Court Nixes Part of Texas Political Map

(06-28) 08:35 PDT WASHINGTON, (AP) --
The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld most of the Republican-boosting Texas congressional map engineered by former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay but threw out part, saying some of the new boundaries failed to protect minority voting rights.
The fractured decision was a small victory for Democratic and minority groups who accused Republicans of an unconstitutional power grab in drawing boundaries that booted four Democratic incumbents from office.(emphasis mine)

Alan Colmes, Liberal Fool!

Yes, the title is redundant, I know. Sitting here watching his show I couldn't help but be a bit taken aback when he would preface his questions to Newt Gingrich with some inane liberal postulate. When the former Speaker of the House of Representatives restated the treasonous garbage we all had just heard, Colmes interrupted with, "I didn't say that."
There you have it! Say something seditious...then deny you said it. How simple! To a Liberal lying is good as long as it furthers the Marxist agenda.

Where's the Outrage from the Left?

The two U.S. soldiers missing since an attack on a checkpoint last week were found dead near a power plant in Yusifiyah, south of Baghdad, according to an Iraqi defense official. General Abdul Aziz Muhammed, head of operations at Iraqi Ministry of Defense said in a news conference in Baghdad this afternoon that the soldiers had been “barbarically” killed and that there were traces of torture on their bodies. He offered no further details. U.S. officials could not immediately be reached for comment or confirmation.
The Army yesterday identified the missing soldiers as Pfc. Kristian Menchaca, 23, of Houston and Pfc. Thomas L. Tucker, 25, of Madras, Ore. They were attacked at a checkpoint near Yusufiyah. A third soldier, Spec. David J. Babineau, 25, of Springfield, Mass., was killed in the incident.

Sheehan Supports U.S. Deserters in Canada Jun 18 8:11 AM US/Eastern Email this story

By CAROLYN THOMPSONAssociated Press Writer
FORT ERIE, Ontario
A group of American military deserters publicly embraced their new lives in Canada on Saturday with the support of "peace mom" Cindy Sheehan, who said she wished the son she lost in Iraq was among them.
"I begged him not to go to Iraq," the anti-war activist said through tears at a rally in support of the former soldiers, who wore black T- shirts emblazoned with "AWOL." "And I wish he was standing up here with these people because he didn't want to go."

Sheehan was making her second visit to Canada in support of sanctuary for those fleeing the U.S. military. The Canadian government has so far denied political asylum to U.S. soldiers who have sought it but appeals are pending.
"They're trying to deport me," said Darrell Anderson of Lexington, Ky., who arrived in Canada by way of Niagara Falls in January 2005. He spent seven months in Iraq with the Army's 1st Armored Division and received a purple heart following a roadside bomb attack before deciding during a leave he would not go back.
"When I was in Iraq, we were killing innocent people for oil. It was obvious they didn't want us there," said Anderson, 24, who is petitioning to remain in Canada.
The gathering at a park in the town of Fort Erie, across the border from Buffalo, N.Y., was organized by peace groups on both sides of the border.
About 20 former U.S. soldiers, referred to as war resisters, have applied for refugee status in Canada. Organizers estimated there may be as many as 200 soldiers in the country who have not yet sought formal protection.
"They say we're traitors, we're deserters," said former Marine Chris Magaoay, 20, of the Hawaiian island of Maui. "No, I'm a Marine and I stand up for what I believe in, and I believe the Constitution of the United States of America is being pushed aside as a scrap piece of paper."
The soldiers thanked Canadians for their hospitality and were cheered by about 100 in an audience that included Iraq veterans opposed to the war and Vietnam-era resisters who sought refuge in Canada decades earlier.
"I know that their choice has been difficult but I know that they made the right choice," said Bruce Beyer, who spent five years in Canada as a draft resister during Vietnam.
"I know that they miss their family and their friends that they're cut off from," Beyer said. "But I know that you Canadians have stepped up and stood behind them and I thank you from the bottom of my heart."
Sheehan, who energized the anti-war movement last summer with her monthlong protest outside President Bush's Texas ranch, said she has spent time with many of the resisters.
"They're moral human beings who don't want to go to Iraq and kill innocent people to line the pockets of George Bush and the war machine," she said.

They are not moral, and only loosely fit the description of "human beings". They chose not to fight our enemies because they are cowards. When will the Left stop insisting on the "Big Lie"?

Mamas, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowgirls

Dixie Chick pontificates:

"The entire country may disagree with me, but I don't understand the necessity for patriotism," Maines resumes, through gritted teeth. "Why do you have to be a patriot? About what? This land is our land? Why? You can like where you live and like your life, but as for loving the whole country… I don't see why people care about patriotism."

Her parents must be so proud.

Pro-active

Damn, I hate it when useless catch-phrases become part of our everyday speech.
Today, we feature "pro-active".
Apparently in order to solve any problem today, we must be pro-active. Now I'm not the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but doesn't "pro-active" simply mean that we should do something about it?
Pro-active my Aunt Nelly's bum!
Stop the pretense!

Sliding into First Base

I will never understand why a major league baseball player would ever slide into first base unless he were trying to avoid a tag.
What is a slide? It is a braking device that hopefully prevents the runner from leaving the safety of the bag and making oneself vulnerable to being tagged out. Pretty simple, huh? Slide=slow down and keep running=don't slow down. How many times have you seen a baserunner thrown out at first just before his little hand touched first base. Baseball rules allow a runner to overrun first base, and only first base, without penalty.
If I were manager, I would fine any idiot who slid into first, then I would chastise him in front of his teammates, and call into question his sexual orientation.
But that's just me.

Separation of Church and State

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof ..."

That, folks, is what the US Constitution says, no more, no less. The First Amendment makes no mention of the separation of the government from religion except to have no State religion and to allow its citizens to freely practice their religion.
The next time a lying liberal dog tells you that displaying the Ten Commandments in a public arena is "unconstitutional", politely ask the rabid vermin to show you that section.

Most Dangerous Sports

I found this interesting. Maybe you will, too.

Pennies and Sense

Let's assume for the moment that you own business that makes tools. One your products is a left-handed screwdriver and costs $1.50 to produce. This includes purchase price of materials, labor, and overhead, but not distribution.
No matter how much you try to push the value of your screwdriver, the highest price you can sell it for is $1.00. You lose 50 cents on each one.
Now, being a common sense-type individual, you rightly decide to stop manufacturing this item that costs more to make than in its final form is worth.
Enter the United States Government. A single penny, properly called a cent, costs about 1.5 cents to make. You are paying for this loss.
Isn't it time the government got smart (I know. That's a stretch) and stopped producing this item that is supposed to be money, not cost money?

No Indictment!

Hit a cop? That's OK.

Dr. Sanity on the Mark

(To) those commenters who think I am being too hard on some of those poor Democrats who pander to the lunatic base of their party--quite frankly, I don't think it is possible to be too hard on treasonous scum who are prepared to give up our national interests to an enemy whose stated goal is our destruction. Disagree all you want with Bush or Rumsfeld and any particular strategy/tactic in the GWOT; but if you have no alternative plan other than to blame America for the muslim fanatics who want to forcibly spread their faith or die trying; or if you aren't even capable of realizing that we are at war with an implacable enemy--then you are beyond reason.

Deporting Illegal Invaders

If it is true that deporting twelve million illegal aliens is an impossible task, then what makes the government think they can give these same twelve million "guest worker" status and put them on this so-called "path to citizenship"?

Just curious.

Sense and Sensitivity

Zarqawi, Schiavo and liberal madness

As more details emerge, the media have begun to ask whether Zarqawi’s life could have been saved given that he was alive for almost an hour after the bombing. They have even floated the possibility that medical aid was purposefully denied to him. The media’s concern for Zarqawi contrasts glaringly with their attitude toward Terri Schiavo when they cheered those who denied her life-sustaining nourishment.
This behavior is yet another striking illustration of the moral madness that is liberalism. Only liberals could show concern for a murderous monster while gleefully watching a disabled woman starve to death. The odious ideology to which they adhere so corrodes their moral sensibilities that they almost completely lose their sense of compassion, proportion, justice and decency. Only thus can they campaign for the killing of babies and the disabled while fretting about the possible lack of medical attention to a head-chopping beast. Terrible is indeed the moral affliction from which these people suffer.

A Better Question

Many of us (you know who you are) realize that Liberals like often to cower behind empty rhetoric. One device they repeatedly us when confronted with a well thought out interrogative is to divert away from it with a verbal tap dance.
Just once I'd like hear a conversation similar to this:
Interviewer: "Why shouldn't Congressman Numbskull be held to the same standards under the law as any other American?"
Interviewee: "A better question is blah, blah, yada."
Interviewer: "I didn't ask you for a "better" question. I asked you my question, which requires a simple answer that even you should be able to comprehend. Incidentally, to comprehend means to understand. To understand means to "copy" in your vernacular.
Interviewee: "What's vernacular?"

No Indictment for Rove

Liberal "Sensitivity"

Advertising Age columnist Simon Dumenco has a suggestion for Ann Coulter:
Would it kill you, "Godless" author Ann Coulter, to do us all a favor and kill yourself? (Oh, well, yeah, I guess it would kill you.)
After her recent rabidly hateful, foaming-at-the-mouth, sub-human "Today" show appearance -- in which she reiterated her assertion that 9/11 widows are "enjoying their husband's deaths" -- even her former supporters began to fantasize about how much nicer the world would be if it were Coulterless.

"Is there someplace a television network won't go in search of notoriety, novelty, shock value and ratings?

More on "Godless"

Jersey girls prove Coulter’s point

The reaction to Ann Coulter’s Jersey Girls reference in her new book, Godless, The Church of Liberalism, proves the point she was making. You cannot be critical of, or in any way respond to the leftist message that comes from someone classified as victim.

Think of Christopher Reeve and Cindy Sheehan. These people were used by liberals/Democrats to get a message out that could not be challenged by the Right for fear of demonization. Reeve, because he was paralyzed, carried the water on embryonic stem cell research; Sheehan, because her soldier son died in the Iraqi war, carried the bucket with the “withdraw the troops” message.

Truth is, the Jersey Girls were termed “rock stars of grief,” back in 2004. Not by Ann Coulter, but by another member of the 9/11 families, who had encountered the women on more than one occasion and, of course, watched their actions closely. It was Debra Burlingame, whose brother was a pilot on one of the hijacked flights, who made this astute observation.

So, the reaction we’re now seeing to the chapter in Coulter’s book that deals with this victim-as-messenger phenomenon, once again, proves her point.

Homosexual Marriage

The very fact that we are considering whether or not we as a society should accept as not only legal, but also desirable the union of two individuals of the same gender in holy (read "unholy") matrimony speaks volumes as to the depths of debauchery into which we have fallen.
Our laws protect those who would and do kill unborn babies. We allow our leaders to strike police officers without retribution (Cynthia McKinney), abandon drowning companions (Ted Kennedy), and lie before the nation regarding a criminal investigation (Bill Clinton). A Muslim terrorist thug, who wants to kill you, can proclaim that you are a "racist" and deserving of the scorn of nations, yours, mine, and ours!

The 136-page report prepared by The Keystone Center, an education and public group based in Keystone, Colo., said Americans now consume fully one-third of their daily intake of calories outside the home. And as of 2000, the average American took in 300 more calories a day than was the case 15 years earlier, according to Agriculture Department statistics cited in the report. (emphasis mine)

Let's do the math. If you divide one (your total calorie count) by three (meals per day), you shockingly get one-third as a result. Let's study something more important like what the definition of "is" is.

Right Wing Extremist?

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an American in 1907

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
